Maria Helga Stürup, born in the outskirts of Copenhagen in 1992, has worked at Good Company Pictures for over 6 years. She started out working as a producer’s assistant before starting to produce herself.

 

Her debut as a producer was with the documentary film ‘Nobody Knows Casper’, which premiered at CPH:DOX in 2022 and was awarded for Best Documentary at Doc.London.

She is currently in development and production with several documentary projects (features and series) working with both experienced and first-time filmmakers. Maria is a EURODOC alumna (cohort 2023) and participated in IDFAcademy 2023. She has a Master of Arts in Film and Media Studies with a profile in Creative Media Industries from the University of Copenhagen and Erasmus University Rotterdam from which she graduated in 2019. Her master thesis examined how the risk willingness amongst Danish film producers are influenced by the industry surroundings, which was also written into a peer-reviewed article for the Journal of Media, Cognition and Communication as well as an article for the Danish film magazine Kosmorama.
